What Ocala retirees should review
Your Annual Notice of Change. Read it before you decide to stay in your plan. Drug lists, networks, and benefits can change.
Your doctors and hospitals. If you see doctors around Ocala, or at local hospitals, ask each office and the plan whether they will be in network next year. We never assume.
Your ZIP code. Plans are sold by service area. Choices in Ocala, Belleview, Dunnellon, or Silver Springs Shores can differ from nearby Sumter, Lake, Alachua, or Citrus County. Compare with your own address.
Your prescriptions. Enter every drug and your usual pharmacy in Plan Finder.
Moved to Ocala from up north?
Many people retire to Marion County from other states. If you moved recently and your old plan does not serve this area, a move can open a Special Enrollment Period. If you still spend summers with family elsewhere, Medicare.gov advises checking whether a plan will cover you there. Original Medicare works nationwide with providers who accept Medicare, while many Medicare Advantage plans focus on a local network.
