Looking for ACA (Marketplace) health coverage or Medicare help in Tampa? Instant Health Help is a licensed health insurance agency based in Orlando and Kissimmee, and we help Tampa residents by phone and online. We do not have a Tampa office, and you do not need to visit one. Guidance is free to you. We are not an insurance carrier, and we do not invent plan names, quote made-up prices, or call any option the “best.”
Tampa is in Hillsborough County, and it is the county seat. “Tampa Bay,” though, covers several counties. St. Petersburg and Clearwater are across the bay in Pinellas County, while Brandon is an unincorporated community inside Hillsborough. Marketplace plan menus and doctor networks follow where you live, so a coworker’s plan in St. Pete may not match what you see at a Tampa ZIP code. We start with your ZIP and county, not the metro name.
Who we help in Tampa
We regularly work with:
- Self-employed residents, contractors, and gig workers shopping coverage on their own
- Families whose employer plan ended or became too expensive to keep
- People who lost job-based coverage mid-year and may have a Special Enrollment Period
- Households that recently moved into Hillsborough County
- Neighbors turning 65 who need to line up Medicare and leave the Marketplace cleanly
If someone in the home is turning 65 or already has Medicare, say so early. Medicare and the Marketplace are different programs with different calendars. See turning 65 Medicare enrollment in Florida and can I keep Marketplace coverage after 65.
When Tampa residents can enroll
Florida uses HealthCare.gov, the federal Health Insurance Marketplace. There is no separate state exchange website. For next year’s coverage, HealthCare.gov lists open enrollment as November 1 through January 15. Enroll by December 15 if you want coverage to start January 1. Dates can change, so confirm them on HealthCare.gov. Outside open enrollment, you generally need a qualifying life event for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP).
SEP triggers we often review with Tampa clients:
- Loss of job-based or other qualifying health coverage (the coverage end date usually drives the clock)
- Marriage, birth, or adoption
- A permanent move that changes the plans available to you
- Other qualifying events recognized by Marketplace rules

Medicare help in Tampa
Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7. Medicare Advantage and Part D options depend on where you live, so Hillsborough County choices can differ from Pinellas or Pasco. We compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement (Medigap), and Part D plans we are appointed to offer, using your doctors, pharmacies, and prescriptions. Start with Original Medicare vs Medicare Advantage or the Medicare Annual Enrollment checklist.
We do not offer every plan available in your area. Contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048) to get information on all of your options.
Dental and vision
Original Medicare does not cover most routine dental care, and dental and vision needs often get missed during health plan shopping. We can review dental and vision options alongside your health coverage. Background: does Medicare cover dental? and does Medicare cover vision?
What we do (and what we won’t do)
We organize your household, income estimate, ZIP code, doctors, and medications, then compare the options available for your Tampa-area address. When you use our quote path, we stay on the application as your licensed agent. No pressure, no invented savings numbers, and no guaranteed subsidy amounts.
Have ready: who needs coverage, an income estimate for the year, any coverage end date, your preferred Tampa-area doctors and pharmacies, and a medication list.

Tampa ACA & Medicare FAQ
Do you have an office in Tampa?
No. Instant Health Help is based in Orlando and Kissimmee. We help Tampa and Hillsborough County residents by phone and online, so there is no office to visit.
Are Marketplace plans in Tampa the same as in St. Petersburg?
Not necessarily. Tampa is in Hillsborough County and St. Petersburg is in Pinellas County. Plan menus and networks can differ by county and ZIP code, so we check your address first.
Does Florida have its own health insurance marketplace?
No. Florida uses HealthCare.gov, the federal Marketplace. You can apply on your own or with a licensed agent. Either way, your plan and any savings come through the federal Marketplace.
Is Instant Health Help free?
Yes. Our guidance is free to you. If you enroll, the insurance carrier pays us. We do not invent premiums or guarantee subsidy amounts; those depend on your household and ZIP code.
Can I enroll outside open enrollment?
Sometimes, if you have a qualifying life event and meet Special Enrollment Period rules. Losing job-based coverage is one of the most common paths. Deadlines are limited, so do not wait months after coverage ends.
Educational content only. Availability, networks, and any savings depend on your household, income, and ZIP code. Instant Health Help is not an insurance carrier and is not connected with HealthCare.gov or the federal Medicare program. Official rules: HealthCare.gov and Medicare.gov.
