We are not an insurance carrier, and we do not invent plan names, quote made-up prices, or call any plan the “best.”

What we help New Jersey residents with

  • Medicare: comparing Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement (Medigap), and Part D plans we are appointed to offer
  • Turning 65: planning the move from a job-based or Marketplace plan to Medicare
  • Get Covered New Jersey plans: get a quote on individual and family plans, then we help you enroll through GetCoveredNJ (and we explain New Jersey’s coverage requirement)

New Jersey runs its own marketplace

New Jersey does not use HealthCare.gov. Individual and family plans go through Get Covered New Jersey (GetCoveredNJ), the state’s official marketplace. GetCoveredNJ requires agents and brokers to complete its own training and certification, in addition to holding a New Jersey producer license, before they can sell Marketplace plans. We are certified to help you enroll in Get Covered New Jersey plans.

Start with a quote: we compare Get Covered New Jersey plans for your ZIP code and household with you, then we help you enroll. Enrollment itself happens through Get Covered New Jersey, not instantly online through our quote tool. You can also apply on your own at GetCoveredNJ. GetCoveredNJ currently lists open enrollment as November 1 through January 31. Confirm this enrollment period’s dates on the state’s site. Outside open enrollment, you generally need a qualifying life event.

New Jersey also has its own coverage requirement. Under the state’s Shared Responsibility Requirement, most residents must have minimum essential coverage, qualify for an exemption, or pay a Shared Responsibility Payment when they file a New Jersey income tax return.

Medicare help in New Jersey

Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, and changes made then start January 1. If you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1 through March 31) gives you one more chance to switch. Turning 65? Your Initial Enrollment Period lasts 7 months: the 3 months before your birthday month, that month, and the 3 months after.

Medicare Advantage and Part D choices depend on your county and ZIP code. We compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement (Medigap), and Part D plans we are appointed to offer, using your doctors, pharmacies, and prescription list. You can also get free, unbiased counseling from your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), which is not connected to any insurance company.
