Medicare Annual Enrollment 2026 in Central Florida

Health plan card, coffee, and October-December calendar for Medicare Annual Enrollment

Annual Enrollment is the window most people actually use to change Medicare coverage. In 2026 it runs October 15 through December 7. Changes usually take effect January 1.

If you live in Orlando, Kissimmee, Orange County, or Osceola County, the plans on your list are not the same as somewhere else in Florida. Networks, drug lists, and extras are built at the county level.

What you can do during AEP

  • Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan, or the other way around
  • Change from one Advantage plan to another
  • Join, drop, or switch a Part D prescription plan
  • Review dental, vision, and hearing extras that often sit inside Advantage plans

Medicare Supplement (Medigap) does not follow this same Oct 15–Dec 7 calendar. If you already have a Supplement, AEP is still a good time to check your Part D plan and your doctors. It is not automatically a free-for-all to change Supplement plans.

Three things to put on the table before you switch

  1. Your doctors and hospitals. An Advantage plan you like on paper is a problem if your specialist is out of network in Orange County.
  2. Your medications. Part D and Advantage formularies change. A drug that was cheap last year can jump.
  3. Your budget. Premium is only one number. Copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums decide what you actually pay.

Advantage vs Supplement, in one minute

Advantage (Part C) usually bundles medical coverage, often Part D, and extras, with copays and a network.

A Supplement works with Original Medicare and helps with deductibles and coinsurance. You typically add a separate Part D plan for drugs.

Neither is “better.” The right one depends on your doctors, drugs, travel, and how you want to pay.

Dates to keep

  • Oct 15–Dec 7, 2026: Annual Enrollment (AEP)
  • Jan 1–Mar 31: Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment, for people already in an Advantage plan
  • Your Initial Enrollment Period if you are turning 65, which is separate from AEP

Missing your first enrollment window can mean late penalties. AEP is for people who already have Medicare and want to change it.
